DESCRIPTION

Introduction:

Cryptocoryne parva is one of the smallest Cryptocoryne species, making it an excellent choice for foreground placement in planted aquariums. Native to Sri Lanka, this slow-growing plant features narrow, lance-shaped green leaves that remain compact and low-growing. Unlike other Cryptocoryne species, C. parva does not undergo significant leaf shape changes when transitioning between emersed and submerged growth. Its small size and steady growth rate make it ideal for carpeting or adding fine texture to aquascapes.

Care Requirements:

  • Water Parameters: Prefers temperatures between 22-28°C, with a pH range of 6.0-7.5 and soft to moderately hard water.
  • Nutrient Requirements: Requires a nutrient-rich substrate to support root development. While it does not demand CO₂ supplementation, additional CO₂ and liquid fertilization significantly enhance its growth and vibrancy.
  • Tank Setup: Best suited for foreground placement in aquascapes. Moderate to high lighting helps maintain its compact size and prevents excessive elongation of leaves. A fine-grain substrate allows for easy root establishment.

Care Tips:

Cryptocoryne parva is one of the slowest-growing Cryptocorynes, so patience is key. Due to its minimal growth rate, algae control is essential—keeping a balanced lighting schedule and good water circulation will help prevent algae buildup. Avoid frequent uprooting, as the plant takes time to establish strong roots.

A fantastic choice for nano aquariums and detailed aquascapes, Cryptocoryne parva provides a lush, natural carpet-like effect over time. Its hardiness and adaptability make it an excellent option for both beginners and advanced aquarists looking to create a structured and balanced underwater environment.

Note: Images are for display purposes only; plants are natural products and may vary in size, shape, and color. Please ensure you have selected either the net pot or loose plant option before purchase.
