DESCRIPTION

Taxiphyllum sp. (Taiwan Moss)

Introduction:

Taxiphyllum sp., commonly known as Taiwan Moss, is a finely textured aquatic moss appreciated for its graceful, slightly arching growth habit. Originating from East Asia, this species creates a soft, flowing effect that adds a sense of depth and movement to aquascapes. Its thinner fronds and lighter texture distinguish it from more robust mosses like Java Moss, making it a subtle but elegant addition. Delivered in tissue culture format, this Taiwan Moss is free from algae, pests, and snails—ensuring a clean and healthy start for any aquarium.

Care Requirements:

  • Water Parameters:
    Temperature: 20–28 °C
    pH Range: 5.5–7.5
    Water Hardness: 2–10 dGH

  • Nutrient Requirements:
Benefits from liquid fertilizers containing micronutrients. CO₂ injection is not essential but does enhance growth and structure. Grows well under low to medium nutrient conditions.

  • Tank Setup:
Excellent for attaching to hardscape like driftwood, stones, or mesh. It can be used creatively to mimic waterfalls or forest floors. Accepts a range of lighting but performs best under medium lighting. Ensure soft water and moderate flow to prevent buildup of detritus and to keep its fronds clean.

Care Tips:

Rinse the tissue culture thoroughly to remove gel before planting. Trim regularly to encourage compact growth and prevent it from overshadowing other plants. Secure well during planting as moss can be dislodged easily before it roots to surfaces.

Delicate and visually soothing, Taxiphyllum sp. 'Taiwan Moss' is ideal for creating soft, flowing aquascapes or forest-style tanks. The sterile tissue culture format ensures it arrives clean, healthy, and ready to grow—perfect for hobbyists looking to add refined greenery to their underwater world.
