Introduction:
Bucephalandra ‘Green Wavy’ is an attractive, beginner-friendly Bucephalandra variety known for its bright green, softly ruffled leaves and naturally bushy growth habit. Originating from Borneo, this epiphytic species grows from a creeping rhizome and produces compact clusters of leaves that shimmer with subtle iridescence under aquarium LED lighting. Its branching tendency allows it to form dense, decorative clumps without requiring frequent trimming, making it a stunning choice for midground hardscape accents, driftwood roots, or shaded layouts. As a slow-growing plant that thrives both submerged and emersed, Buce ‘Green Wavy’ is ideal for aquarists seeking a hardy, ornamental plant with minimal maintenance demands.
Temperature: 20–28°C
pH Range: 6.0–7.5
Hardness: Soft to moderately hard water
Bucephalandra ‘Green Wavy’ requires only low to medium lighting to maintain healthy, compact growth. It absorbs nutrients primarily from the water column, so moderate liquid fertilisation helps support colour and leaf strength. While CO₂ injection is not required, it is beneficial—higher CO₂ levels, stable parameters, and good water flow can noticeably increase growth speed and improve leaf quality. As with all Buce species, avoid sudden changes in water chemistry, as instability can lead to leaf melt.
Because Bucephalandra is rhizomatous and epiphytic, it should not be buried in substrate. Instead, attach the plant to driftwood, stones, or textured hardscape using glue, thread, or gentle wedging between crevices. Over time, the plant anchors itself naturally. Low to moderate flow keeps the leaves clean and prevents debris buildup. With a typical height of 15–30+ cm, Buce ‘Green Wavy’ fits well in the midground or on hardscape surfaces where its wavy, iridescent leaves can be showcased.
Remove the plant from its pot and gently take off the cotton surrounding the roots before attaching it to hardscape. Do not cover the rhizome—doing so will cause rot and result in melting or deterioration. Trim the rhizome to propagate new plants, ensuring each piece has roots and several leaves. Maintain stable water conditions and avoid abrupt parameter shifts to prevent stress. Slow growth is normal; given time and consistent care, this Bucephalandra variety becomes a rich, textured highlight in any aquascape.
Bucephalandra ‘Green Wavy’ brings a refined, natural charm to aquariums with its shimmering leaves, compact form, and reliable hardiness. Ideal for aquascapers who enjoy intricate hardscape placements and low-maintenance species, it thrives under gentle lighting and rewards patience with beautiful, long-lasting growth.

Product images are for display purposes only. As natural products, live plants will vary in size, shape, and colour. Please ensure you have selected your preferred option — potted plant — before completing your purchase. Avoid drastic parameter changes and never bury the rhizome, as this may lead to melting or rot.
