Helanthium xingu (previously known as Helanthium angustifolius or Echinodorus angustifolius) is a graceful, grass-like aquatic plant that thrives in planted aquariums. Native to South America, this species is characterized by its long, narrow leaves that can grow both submerged and emersed, making it a versatile choice for aquascapes. Due to its ability to produce runners, it forms lush, dense clusters, making it an excellent background or midground plant for nature-style aquariums.

Care Requirements:

• Water Parameters: Prefers a temperature range of 22–28°C, with an optimal pH of 5.5–7.5 and soft to moderately hard water (3–12 dGH).
• Nutrient Requirements: Benefits from nutrient-rich substrates and regular root fertilization. CO₂ injection is not required but promotes faster growth and stronger leaf development.
• Tank Setup: Thrives under moderate to high lighting, growing tall and forming dense patches through runners. Best planted in the substrate where it can spread naturally.

Care Tips:

Regular trimming is recommended to control growth and prevent excessive shading of smaller plants. Once established, it propagates easily through runners, allowing for natural expansion. If grown emersed, it may produce delicate flowers.
