Echinodorus uruguayensis is an elegant, large-growing sword plant native to the cool, flowing waters of Uruguay and southern Brazil. Known for its long, gracefully arching leaves, this species brings height, texture, and movement to the background of medium to large aquariums. Its leaves range from light to deep green depending on lighting, nutrients, and water temperature, often displaying subtle transparency that enhances its natural, delicate appearance.
This species performs best in spacious tanks with moderate light and nutrient-rich substrate. Unlike many sword plants, E. uruguayensis prefers slightly cooler temperatures and good water flow, making it ideal for biotope and nature-style aquariums that replicate river environments.
