DESCRIPTION

Introduction:

Nymphoides sp. 'Taiwan', commonly referred to as Taiwan Lily, is a compact, ornamental aquatic plant admired for its floating, lily pad-like leaves and delicate growth pattern. Originally introduced to the hobby from Taiwan, this species is a smaller and more aquarium-suited variant within the Nymphoides genus. Its rounded, slightly scalloped leaves are typically green but can develop bronze or reddish hues under strong lighting. Often compared to miniature lotus or banana plants, Nymphoides sp. 'Taiwan' makes a beautiful midground to background accent, especially in aquascapes that aim for natural, botanical aesthetics.

Care Requirements:

  • Water Parameters:

    • Temperature: 20–28°C

    • pH Range: 6.0–7.5

    • Hardness: Soft to moderately hard water (2–12°dGH)

  • Nutrient Requirements:
This plant thrives in nutrient-rich substrates and benefits from supplemental root tabs. Though not CO₂-dependent, CO₂ injection enhances growth speed and promotes deeper coloration. Liquid fertilization, particularly with iron and micronutrients, helps support healthy leaf development and coloration.

  • Tank Setup:
Suitable for midground or background placement in smaller tanks, or foreground in larger layouts, Nymphoides 'Taiwan' prefers a fine-grain, enriched substrate. Moderate to high lighting encourages compact, bushy growth and potential bronze tinges on the leaves. Gentle water flow supports healthy conditions without disturbing the plant’s delicate leaves.

Care Tips:

Trim larger or older leaves to maintain a tidy appearance and to promote new growth from the base. Avoid excessive shading by taller plants to ensure the plant maintains compact, horizontal growth. It may send out short runners or expand from the base over time, forming a small colony. Monitor nutrient levels closely, as deficiencies can lead to leaf yellowing or transparency.

Nymphoides sp. 'Taiwan' brings elegance and natural charm to aquascapes with its soft, lily-like leaves and graceful form. Its low-growing habit and rich green coloration make it an ideal choice for aquarists aiming to add a gentle, botanical touch to their underwater landscapes.

Disclaimer: Product images are for display purposes only. As natural products, live plants will vary in size, shape, and color. Please ensure you have selected your preferred option of either a net pot, tissue culture cup, or loose plant before completing your purchase.
