DESCRIPTION

Aponogeton longiplumulosus

Aponogeton longiplumulosus is an elegant aquatic plant known for its long, narrow, heavily rippled leaves and graceful appearance. Unlike many large Aponogeton species, it has a refined growth habit that makes it an excellent choice for adding movement and texture to a planted aquarium.

The leaves can range from light to medium green, with the distinctive undulating surface catching the light beautifully. Given suitable conditions, the plant can produce numerous leaves and become an impressive focal point without looking overly bulky.

Aponogeton longiplumulosus is relatively undemanding and can adapt to a wide range of aquarium conditions. A nutrient-rich substrate and good overall nutrition will encourage strong growth, while CO₂ injection and good lighting can further improve its development.

It is best planted as a feature or background plant, where its long, flowing leaves have room to move naturally with the water flow. Avoid burying the bulb or crown completely in the substrate, as this can lead to rot.

Difficulty: Easy to Moderate
Growth: Moderate to Fast
Colour: Green
Placement: Midground to Background
Lighting: Low to Medium
CO₂: Not essential, but beneficial
Propagation: Seeds / daughter plants

Aquascaping tip: Give this plant some space to develop. Its long, ruffled leaves create beautiful movement in the aquarium and can make an excellent natural focal point behind lower-growing foreground plants.
