Introduction:

Anubias barteri var. nana 'Paxing Compact' is a unique and highly sought-after variety of Anubias known for its compact growth and dense, lush green leaves. Native to West Africa, this slow-growing aquatic plant thrives in freshwater aquariums and is prized for its durability and low-maintenance requirements. Its small, round leaves and short stems make it an excellent choice for foreground or midground placement in aquascapes, especially for nano tanks and intricate layouts.

Care Requirements:

  • Water Parameters: Prefers temperatures between 22–28°C, with an ideal pH range of 6.0–7.5 and soft to moderately hard water (dH up to 12).
  • Nutrient Requirements: A nutrient-rich environment enhances growth, though Anubias can thrive with minimal fertilization. Root tabs and liquid fertilizers rich in micronutrients, particularly iron, will support vibrant foliage.
  • Tank Setup: Best suited for attachment to rocks, driftwood, or other hardscape materials rather than being buried in the substrate. Moderate to low lighting is ideal, as excessive light can promote algae growth on the leaves. A gentle water flow helps maintain a clean environment.

Care Tips:

Avoid planting the rhizome directly in the substrate, as this can lead to rot. Instead, secure the plant using thread or glue until it naturally attaches to the hardscape.
