DESCRIPTION

Introduction:

Anubias barteri var. nana 'Paxing' is a compact and resilient aquatic plant, highly sought after for its dense, broad leaves and slow-growing nature. A cultivated variant of the popular Anubias nana, 'Paxing' features slightly elongated yet rounded leaves with a rich green hue, making it a striking addition to aquascapes. Originating from West Africa, this low-maintenance plant thrives in both submerged and emersed conditions, making it ideal for aquariums, terrariums, and paludariums.

Care Requirements:

  • Water Parameters: Prefers a temperature range of 22–28°C, a pH between 6.0–7.5, and soft to moderately hard water (3–12 dGH).
  • Nutrient Requirements: Absorbs nutrients mainly through the water column, benefiting from regular liquid fertilization. While CO₂ is not necessary, it can encourage faster growth.
  • Tank Setup: Thrives when attached to rocks, driftwood, or other hardscapes, as burying its rhizome in the substrate can cause rot. Grows well in low to moderate lighting, making it suitable for shaded aquariums or low-tech setups.

Care Tips:

Avoid placing Anubias Paxing under direct, intense light for extended periods, as it may develop algae on its broad leaves. Routine trimming of older leaves and occasional gentle cleaning will keep the plant looking its best. Secure it to hardscapes using thread or aquarium-safe glue to promote stable growth.

With its compact size, lush green foliage, and ability to thrive in a variety of conditions, Anubias barteri var. nana 'Paxing' is an excellent choice for aquascaping. Whether used in nano tanks, midground placements, or low-tech setups, it brings both beauty and durability to any aquatic environment.
