DESCRIPTION

Introduction:

Anubias barteri var. nana 'Petite' is one of the smallest varieties of Anubias, prized for its tiny, dark green leaves and slow-growing nature. Originating from West Africa, this dwarf aquatic plant is ideal for nano aquariums, intricate aquascapes, and foreground placements. Its compact size and hardiness make it a favorite among aquascaping enthusiasts, as it can thrive in a variety of conditions while maintaining its striking appearance.

Care Requirements:

  • Water Parameters: Thrives in temperatures between 22–28°C, with a preferred pH range of 6.0–7.5 and soft to moderately hard water (dH up to 12).
  • Nutrient Requirements: Grows well with minimal fertilization, but benefits from liquid fertilizers containing iron and micronutrients. Does not require CO₂ supplementation but will show more vigorous growth with it.
  • Tank Setup: Best attached to driftwood, rocks, or other hardscape elements rather than planted in the substrate. Prefers low to moderate lighting to prevent algae buildup on its small leaves. Works well in high-humidity terrariums and paludariums as well.

Care Tips:

To prevent rhizome rot, avoid burying it in the substrate. Instead, use thread or aquarium-safe glue to attach it to a hard surface. Due to its slow growth, occasional trimming of older leaves and gentle cleaning to remove algae will help maintain its compact beauty.

Anubias barteri var. nana 'Petite' is an excellent choice for aquarists seeking a hardy, low-maintenance plant that enhances the visual appeal of any aquascape. Its small size, adaptability, and striking green color make it a perfect addition to nano tanks and intricate layouts.
