DESCRIPTION
Rotala sp. 'Nanjenshan' is native to Taiwan and is thought to be a hybrid between R. rotundifolia and R. wallichii. It is a highly sought-after aquarium plant, available from fish stores and fish trading circles. It is sometimes incorrectly labelled as Rotala 'Nanjean' or 'Najean'. It is best kept in soft, CO2-rich water and will thrive in plenty of light and iron. Cultivators should ensure regular fertilization, as low nutrient levels can result in the plant's growth stunting and its leaves turning black. Despite its needs, it is not difficult to grow. This species's drooping growth habit makes it ideal for Aquascaping - a mass of them behind some Cryptocoryne or hardscape creates a stunning display. To attain shorter, more compact stems, trim the tops and allow the bushy side-shoots to grow.
