DESCRIPTION

Eriocaulon quinquangulare is a unique and rare Eriocaulon species. With its striking appearance and red leaf bases, it resembles some bromeliads. It has been cultivated under the trade names Eriocaulon sp Quinquangular "Red", and is produced in nurseries as an emergent (terrestrial) plant. This species is found in tropical Asia from Pakistan to Vietnam, growing in moist environments.

This species has high light requirements, as well as a nutrient-rich substrate and supplemental CO2. It is an excellent choice for a specimen plant or for arranging in a small group in the midground of the aquarium. In paludariums and ripariums, E. quinquangulare is especially desirable, as it is easy to cultivate in both submersed and emersed forms.
