DESCRIPTION

Echinodorus ‘Paul Kloecker’ – Potted Plant

Echinodorus ‘Paul Kloecker’ is a bold and striking sword plant, well-known for its large, vibrant leaves that range from lush green to stunning shades of red or bronze under the right conditions. With its impressive size and dynamic coloration, this variety makes an excellent centerpiece or background plant in medium to large aquariums. Grown in potted form, it establishes quickly and provides long-lasting structure and beauty in the aquascape.

Key Features:

  • Dynamic Coloration: Leaves shift from bright green to rich red or bronze tones when provided with stronger lighting and nutrients.

  • Large, Robust Growth: Broad foliage creates a strong visual focal point and provides natural shelter for fish and shrimp.

  • Adaptable & Hardy: Tolerates a wide range of water conditions, making it suitable for many aquarium setups.

  • Potted for Strength: Comes with a well-developed root system, ensuring easier establishment in the substrate.

Care Requirements:

  • Lighting: Moderate to high lighting enhances color intensity and encourages healthy growth.

  • CO₂: Not strictly required but beneficial for faster growth and deeper coloration.

  • Water Parameters: Best kept in pH 6.0–7.5 with temperatures of 22–30 °C.

  • Growth Rate: Moderate, reaching 20–40 cm in height, making it ideal for background or midground placement.

  • Trimming: Remove older or larger leaves at the base to maintain shape and encourage fresh growth.

Planting Tips:

  • Remove from the pot and gently rinse off excess substrate before planting.

  • Plant directly in nutrient-rich substrate, leaving the crown above the surface to prevent rot.

  • Works beautifully as a centerpiece or background plant in aquascapes, especially when paired with finer-leaved plants for contrast.
