Bucephalandra ‘Theia’ – Potted Plant

Bucephalandra ‘Theia’ is a rare and captivating Bucephalandra variety, admired for its dark, narrow leaves with slightly rippled edges and a subtle iridescent sheen that shifts under aquarium lighting. Its compact size and slow growth make it a versatile choice for both nano tanks and larger aquascapes, where it serves as a refined accent on rocks or driftwood. Supplied in potted form, it comes with a well-developed root system for quick establishment in your aquarium.

Key Features:

  • Refined Leaf Shape: Narrow, elongated leaves with delicate rippling add elegance and fine texture.

  • Iridescent Glow: Subtle shimmer appears under aquarium LEDs, giving the plant a unique visual appeal.

  • Compact & Slow-Growing: Perfect for small aquariums or as detailed accents in larger scapes.

  • Epiphytic Growth: Attaches naturally to hardscape elements like rocks and wood.

  • Potted Form: Strong roots provide stability and easier transition into your tank.

Care Requirements:

  • Lighting: Prefers low to medium lighting; excessive light may encourage algae growth.

  • CO₂: Not required, but beneficial for richer coloration and more vigorous growth.

  • Water Parameters: Adapts well to a wide range, with pH between 6.0–7.5 and temperatures of 22–28 °C.

  • Growth Rate: Very slow, ideal for stable, long-term aquascapes.

  • Propagation: Easily propagated by dividing the rhizome.

Planting Tips:

  • Remove from the pot and rinse off excess rockwool before use.

  • Do not bury the rhizome—attach to rocks, driftwood, or other hardscape using thread, glue, or fishing line until roots secure naturally.

  • Place in shaded or low-flow areas to prevent algae buildup and highlight its subtle shimmer.
