Effective treatment for bacterial swimbladder infections in ornamental fish, including Discus and other sensitive species.
Fish rely on their swimbladder for buoyancy and balance. When it becomes infected with harmful bacteria such as Aeromonas or Pseudomonas, fish may struggle to swim properly, leading to stress and potentially death if untreated.
Use this treatment if fish show the following symptoms:
Lethargy and reduced activity
Clamped fins and dull coloration
Difficulty maintaining balance or buoyancy
Hanging at the surface or sinking to the bottom
Treating swimbladder infections promptly helps restore stability, reduce stress, and prevent further complications.
Calculate your aquarium volume in litres (Length x Width x Depth in cm ÷ 1000).
Shake the bottle thoroughly before use.
Mix the required dose with 1 litre of aquarium water.
Add the solution slowly to the aquarium.
The treatment may be repeated 7 days after the last dose if necessary.
If a second dose is required, first confirm your diagnosis, test water quality using NT Labs Test Kits, and carry out a 30% partial water change.
Important: This product will colour the water yellow and may stain skin or clothing. It is harmless to filter bacteria, fish, and plants. Water changes after 5 days will help clear any remaining colour.
Swimbladder Treatment is formulated to be safe for sensitive species, including Discus, when used as directed. Always monitor fish behaviour and water quality during treatment.
How do I know if my fish has a swimbladder infection?
Look for signs of poor buoyancy control — fish floating at the surface, sinking, or struggling to stay upright. Lethargy and clamped fins are also common indicators.
Will this harm my plants or filter bacteria?
No — Swimbladder Treatment is safe for all aquarium plants and filter bacteria.
Why has the water turned yellow?
The treatment naturally colours the water. This is harmless and will gradually clear after water changes.
Can I repeat the treatment?
Yes. If symptoms persist, you can repeat the treatment 7 days later. Ensure water quality is good and confirm diagnosis before re-dosing.
