DESCRIPTION
Drosera capensis, also known as the Cape Sundew, is a type of carnivorous plant with linear leaves that can reach up to 2.5 inches in length. This species is easy to care for and can produce additional plants as it grows. The leaves are characterized by tentacles (trichomes) that secrete a sticky "dew" to attract and trap prey. The dew also contains enzymes that aid in digestion. When a leaf captures prey, its movements cause the leaf to curl and release more dew and enzymes. Eventually, the plant absorbs all of the nutrients from the prey, leaving behind only its outer skeleton.
