Bucephalandra brownie 'Ghost'
Introduction:
Bucephalandra brownie 'Ghost' is a rare and captivating variety of Bucephalandra, sought after for its dark, iridescent leaves that can exhibit shades of deep green, bluish-purple, or even silvery hues under aquarium lighting. Native to Borneo, Bucephalandras are rheophytic plants that naturally cling to rocks and driftwood in fast-moving streams. This variety offers a mysterious, elegant accent to aquascapes and is especially popular in detailed hardscape layouts. Supplied in tissue culture form, this Ready to Grow version is sterile, pest-free, and algae-free—ideal for pristine aquascaping.
Care Requirements:
Water Parameters:
Temperature: 22–28 °C
pH Range: 5.5–7.5
Water Hardness: 2–12 dGH
Nutrient Requirements:
Low demand. Grows slowly and thrives with low to moderate lighting. Benefits from CO₂ and occasional micronutrient fertilization, particularly to enhance coloration and reduce melting.
Tank Setup:
Attach to rocks or driftwood using glue or thread—do not bury the rhizome. Prefers low to medium flow and shaded areas, making it a great understorey or crevice plant. Suitable for nano tanks and high-detail layouts.
Care Tips:
Rinse off tissue culture gel before placing. Avoid burying the rhizome in substrate. Trim dead leaves as needed and allow time for gradual acclimation. Slow-growing but very stable once established.
With its rare coloration, textured leaves, and exotic allure, Bucephalandra brownie 'Ghost' adds depth and drama to planted aquariums. The tissue culture format ensures a clean, healthy start for aquascapers seeking refined, eye-catching details.
