DESCRIPTION

Bucephalandra sp. ‘Batang Kawa’ – Potted Plant

Bucephalandra sp. ‘Batang Kawa’ is a rare and highly attractive Bucephalandra variety from Borneo, known for its dark green to brown leaves with a subtle metallic sheen that shimmers under aquarium lighting. Its compact, slow-growing nature makes it perfect for nano aquariums or as an elegant accent on driftwood or rocks in larger setups. Supplied in potted form, it comes with a healthy root system, ensuring easy establishment in your tank.

Key Features:

  • Metallic Shimmer: Leaves display a subtle metallic sheen under LED lighting, adding unique visual interest.

  • Compact & Slow-Growing: Ideal for small aquariums, midground, or foreground accents.

  • Epiphytic Plant: Best attached to rocks, driftwood, or hardscape; avoid burying the rhizome.

  • Potted Form: Strong root system for easy planting and long-term stability.

  • Low-Maintenance: Thrives in low to medium light and stable water conditions.

Care Requirements:

  • Lighting: Low to medium lighting is ideal; higher light enhances coloration but may encourage algae.

  • CO₂: Not required but beneficial for faster growth and more vibrant leaves.

  • Water Parameters: Adaptable, with pH 6.0–7.5 and temperatures of 22–28 °C.

  • Growth Rate: Slow, rewarding aquascapers with long-lasting aesthetic appeal.

  • Propagation: By carefully dividing the rhizome.

Planting Tips:

  • Remove from the pot and rinse off any substrate or rockwool before planting.

  • Do not bury the rhizome—attach to rocks, driftwood, or other hardscape with thread, glue, or fishing line until roots secure naturally.

  • Place in shaded or low-flow areas to prevent algae buildup and highlight its metallic sheen.
