DESCRIPTION

Introduction:

Echinodorus 'Chocolate Marble' is a striking and unique sword plant, prized for its bold coloration and robust growth. This hybrid species features broad, elongated leaves that display a mix of green, brown, and reddish hues, often with a marbled pattern that intensifies under proper lighting. Native to South America, like many Echinodorus varieties, this plant thrives in nutrient-rich environments and serves as a stunning focal point in freshwater aquariums. Its adaptability and resilience make it an excellent choice for both beginner and experienced aquarists.

Care Requirements:

  • Water Parameters: Grows best in temperatures between 22-28°C, with a pH range of 6.5-7.5 and soft to moderately hard water.
  • Nutrient Requirements: Requires a nutrient-rich substrate for optimal root development. Regular supplementation with root tabs and liquid fertilizers, especially those rich in iron, enhances the plant’s signature marbled coloration. CO₂ injection is optional but promotes more vigorous growth.
  • Tank Setup: Ideal for midground to background placement due to its moderate to large size. Prefers fine-grain, nutrient-dense substrates and benefits from moderate to high lighting to maintain vibrant leaf coloration.

Care Tips:

To maintain the plant’s rich marbled coloration, ensure consistent lighting and iron supplementation. Avoid covering the plant’s crown when planting to prevent rot.
