Origin
Danio kyathit is found in the fast-flowing streams and rivers of Myanmar, particularly in the Irrawaddy River basin. These waters are characterized by clear currents, rocky substrates, and abundant aquatic vegetation, which provide cover and food sources.

Appearance
The Orange-Finned Danio is visually captivating, displaying shimmering blue-green bodies adorned with bright orange or golden horizontal stripes. The fins often exhibit a striking orange hue, especially in males during spawning or in well-maintained tanks. They grow to a modest size of 4-5 cm (1.5-2 inches), making them suitable for small to medium-sized aquariums.

• Hardness: Soft to moderately hard water (2-12 dGH)
• Tank Size: A minimum of 50 liters (13 gallons) is recommended for a group of 6 or more.

Danio kyathit thrives in well-oxygenated aquariums with moderate water flow to replicate its natural habitat. Adding plants, rocks, and driftwood provides cover and enhances their vibrant coloration.

Diet and Feeding
These fish are omnivorous and readily accept a variety of foods:

• Staple Diet: High-quality flakes or small pellets.
• Treats: Live or frozen foods such as daphnia, brine shrimp, and bloodworms.
• Vegetable Matter: Occasionally supplement with finely chopped spinach or spirulina-based foods.

Feed them in small quantities 1-2 times daily, ensuring no leftover food to maintain water quality.

Behavior and Tank Mates
Danio kyathit are peaceful, energetic fish that thrive in schools of at least 6 individuals. Their active swimming behavior adds dynamism to community tanks. Suitable tank mates include:

• Other peaceful danio species (e.g., Zebra Danios).
• Tetras, rasboras, and small barbs.
• Bottom dwellers like Corydoras and small loaches.

Avoid housing them with slow-moving or long-finned species, like Bettas and Angelfish,  as Danios may nip fins.

Breeding
Breeding Danio kyathit in captivity is straightforward:

1. Spawning Setup: Use a separate tank with fine-leaf plants or a spawning mop, as the fish scatter their eggs. A mesh bottom prevents adults from eating the eggs.
2. Triggering Spawning: Provide a high-quality diet and slightly increase water temperature.
3. Egg Development: Eggs hatch in about 2-3 days, and the fry become free-swimming shortly after.
4. Raising Fry: Feed the fry infusoria or liquid fry food initially, progressing to baby brine shrimp or powdered flakes as they grow.
