DESCRIPTION

Red Onyx Shrimp (Neocaridina davidi)

Exclusive imports from Skyfish Aqua, Taiwan – deep red with bold, black-tinted undertones.

The Red Onyx Shrimp is a rare and stunning Neocaridina variety known for its intense, dark red body often accentuated by black shading or smoky undertones, giving it a rich, jewel-like appearance. This striking coloration makes it a standout in any aquascape, especially against green plants and dark substrates. Carefully bred by Skyfish Aqua, Taiwan, our Red Onyx Shrimp are of the highest grade – showcasing deep color, healthy genetics, and uniformity across the colony.

Key Features:

  • Deep, dark red body with onyx-like undertones

  • High contrast coloration – ideal for planted or minimalist tanks

  • Active, peaceful scavengers – safe for community aquariums

  • Perfect for collectors or color-specific Neocaridina setups

Water Parameters:

Maintain consistent water quality for healthy molting and vivid coloration:

  • Temperature: 20–26°C (68–79°F)

  • pH: 6.4–7.4

  • GH: 6–8

  • KH: 2–4

  • TDS: 180–250 ppm

  • Tank Size: Minimum 10L

Use a dark substrate and natural hardscape to enhance their bold color.

Diet:

Red Onyx Shrimp are omnivorous and benefit from variety:

  • High-quality shrimp pellets or granules

  • Blanched vegetables (e.g., spinach, zucchini, pumpkin)

  • Naturally growing algae and biofilm

  • Protein treats (baby brine shrimp, daphnia, or spirulina) a few times per week

Avoid overfeeding – remove excess food to prevent water fouling.

Breeding:

Red Onyx Shrimp breed readily when kept in stable, shrimp-friendly tanks:

  • Females carry dark-colored eggs for about 3–4 weeks

  • Shrimplets are born fully formed and begin grazing immediately

  • Dense mosses or plants help increase survival rates

  • Keep in a dedicated colony to preserve the unique red-black coloration

Ideal For:

  • Unique or color-themed aquascapes

  • High-contrast planted tanks

  • Peaceful shrimp communities

  • Breeders and collectors of rare Neocaridina varieties

Add luxury and depth to your tank with Red Onyx Shrimp, a premium-grade selection imported from Skyfish Aqua, Taiwan – where precision breeding meets show-quality coloration.
