Cryptocoryne wendtii 'Compact', often simply known as Compact Cryptocoryne, is a popular, small-growing variety of the well-known Cryptocoryne wendtii species. Native to Sri Lanka, this cultivar is cherished for its dense, low-growing habit and attractive, lance-shaped leaves that vary in color from green to bronze, depending on lighting and conditions. Its compact size and clumping growth make it an excellent choice for foreground and midground placement in aquascapes, especially in nano tanks or detailed layouts where space and structure are important. While sometimes referred to informally as "Crypt 'Compact'," its full name is most commonly used in the aquarium trade.
