High-grade imports from Skyfish Aqua, Taiwan – deep, velvety brown with elegant contrast.
Black Chocolate Shrimp are a rich, dark morph of Neocaridina davidi, displaying deep chocolate to near-black coloration that adds dramatic contrast to aquascapes. Under good lighting, their color can appear glossy and velvety, ranging from dark brown to black with occasional reddish undertones. Sourced from Skyfish Aqua, Taiwan, our Black Chocolate Shrimp are selectively bred for bold, uniform color and strong genetics.
Deep chocolate brown to black coloration
Striking contrast in planted or minimalist tanks
Peaceful, active, and community-safe
Excellent scavengers for biofilm and algae
Stable, clean water is essential for maintaining their rich coloration:
Temperature: 20–26°C (68–79°F)
pH: 6.4–7.4
GH: 6–8
KH: 2–4
TDS: 180–250 ppm
Tank Size: Minimum 10L
Dark substrates help bring out their full coloration. Provide moss, driftwood, and natural cover for optimal comfort.
Like other Neocaridina, Black Chocolate Shrimp are omnivorous and easy to feed:
High-quality shrimp pellets or wafers
Blanched vegetables (e.g., spinach, carrot, cucumber)
Algae and biofilm naturally growing in the tank
Occasional protein-based treats (e.g., bloodworms, brine shrimp, spirulina)
Feed in small amounts once or twice daily; avoid overfeeding.
Black Chocolate Shrimp breed readily in freshwater tanks with stable conditions:
Females carry eggs under their tail for around 3–4 weeks
Baby shrimp (shrimplets) are born fully developed
Provide mosses and dense plant cover for maximum survival
To maintain rich coloration, avoid crossbreeding with other Neocaridina color morphs
Dark, high-contrast aquascapes
Minimalist or heavily planted nano tanks
Mixed Neocaridina colonies (with caution)
Algae and detritus cleanup crews
Introduce a bold, earthy elegance to your aquarium with Black Chocolate Shrimp, imported from the world-class breeders at Skyfish Aqua, Taiwan – where quality, color depth, and hardiness are the hallmark.
